Tips for Thai House

Great Thai food in Modesto. I love the tofu curry options. My favorite is the red curry with pineapple, tomatoes, basil, curry, and all kinds of other delicious ingredients. The Thai iced tea is delicious, green curry, and coconut juice based soups are delicious, too.

Take a chance, it's worth it.. I recently moved to Modesto from the Bay Area and I have to confess, the relative lack of Thai dining in the area made me a bit nervous. As a Thai-food junkie, after just a couple of weeks I was desperately needing a fix. So I took a chance on Thai House.

On the outside (as well as on the inside) it doesn't look like much. However, how often has an ornately decorated, ambiance-riddled place failed, only to deliver mediocre food? As a rule, I try to stick to the mildly decorated establishments in favor of delicious food.

Service was exceptional. Our server was genuinely friendly, no scripted politeness here: just honest-to-God communication between human beings! Prompt with the refills, all that good stuff as well.

And the food? Absolutely delicious. Everything I was hoping for and more, especially in the Modesto area. If you like Thai Iced-Tea, it's some of the best I've had, with a bit more spice than I've had before. I feel horrible about this, but in my ecstatic state, I failed to remember the name of the appetizer we ordered, but it was delicious: minced chicken, corn and other tasties in a small crisped basket in cucumber sauce with some cucumber salad.

I would also highly recommend the Pad Thai, a staple of Thai dining and some of the best I've had. I had the spicy red curry with beef, bell peppers, bamboo shoots and sweet basil, which more than satisfied the cravings I've had of late, while my date (a newbie to Thai) had the tilapia with pineapple, onions, etc. in a Thai-style sweet and sour sauce which he absolutely loved and can't wait to branch out from.

The price was more than reasonable, two diners, two Thai Iced-Teas, an appetizer, as well as a shared dessert (coconut ice cream, mmm) for roughly $35.

I honestly cannot wait to return and hope that more will discover this diamond in the rough.
