Crime and inconvenience. The water is constantly being shut off due to the aged plumbing, and the landscapers will block off the parking lot without a moment's notice to the residents. This prevents people from entering and leaving due to the one way parking lots.

If you don't enjoy wading through water up to your ankles during the wet seasons, don't live here. The gutters become so clogged that the rain forms a lake in the parking lots and to fix this problem, they break out these cheap hoses that pump out the water. This ensures that the parking lots are littered with hoses, as well.

We have had numerous car thefts over the past two years, one just this morning (6/27/2011) in Park Brighton. Ever since the change in management over a year ago, this once quiet complex has turned into a jungle of drunk college students, roudy kids, and, as mentioned, the theft has risen to a ridiculous level. We ourselves have experienced TWO incidents with our own vehicles, and after this morning I'm hoping that a new location is in our very near future. The crime doesn't stop in the apartments themselves, either. Downey Park is right across the street, and I know personally a man and his friend who were held at gun point and robbed at this very park six months ago. I myself have been within ear shot, literally TENS of feet away, from a gun fight that occured behind the apartment complex. Both the MPD and the owners of the apartment complex have brushed off all of these incidents and have taken no action. I HIGHLY recommend that you search for a different location to make your home. This has turned into a HORRIBLE neighborhood.

Extemely Poor/shady Management. My boyfriend has lived in Park Brighton for several years and the apartment quality and management has been declining. The management has poor communication with residents. They bring in landscaping companies to so major tree trimming, and they block off a whole parking lot without notice to the residents! this cause people to be blocked out or prevented residents from leaving. Actually, they did give notice...AFTER the deed was done!

Also, me and my bf wanted to move into a bigger apartment, but had some concerns about condition of the apartment. The apartment of interest was previously occupied by a couple with kids and pets, therefore their were many stains on the carpets (red, pink, brown, etc), the tub was old and rusted and the toilet was very old. The manage refused to update anything, not even put new carpet in the apartment-- standard in many other apartments complexes!

Also the biggest example of poor management was the fact that after we off our lease, paying month by month, the management forced by bf into another lease by telling him that they would increase the rent by at least $125 if he did not agree to another lease. On top of that they now are charging resident for water, sewer, and garbage!!! On top of MID and PG&E.

Overall: apartments are nice size, but not updated. Poor communication by management. Management is shady and will milk residents for money.

My Park Brighton Experience: DEA and Bed Bugs. We have lived at Park Brighton for 5 years. The apartments are old with plumbing issues. Since moving in we have been inconvenienced by a DEA bust of our neighbors-who happened to be the grounds keeper at the time. Immigration took him out in handcuffs while we watched from our window confined to our apartment, out of respect for the AK-47 carrying officers.

A year after moving in, they raised the rent on our apartment, which is one of the older ones that has not been remodeled. When new management took over they sent us a letter asking us to pay the initial lower rent payment. Four months later we received a late notice stating that we under paid the rent and now are being charged a late fee. This issue has yet to be cleared up.

Three months ago we got a visit from the Orkin man stating that an apartment in our building had bed bugs. He proceeded to check ours, ripping our beds apart, and did not find any. Shortly there after our neighbor of about a year informed us that she was leaving. She told us that her daughter had struggled with strange bites since they moved into their apartment. She informed the manager and six months later the Orkin man arrived and fumigated their apartment twice. This caused our neighbor great concern as the bed bugs continued to feed on her daughter. She ended up leaving a month ago forfeiting her deposit just to get away from Park Brighton.

Overall, the location is great, the manager in below par, and I'm happy to report the DEA has not come back. Thank you immigration services.

Moral of the story: Our new neighbors, in the old bed bug infested apartment, pay $150 less than us, are allowed to have a dog, and have a remodeled apartment...Life is not fair, however I would bet that you could find a better place to live. Good Luck and keep looking. :)

Well worth it.... I have lived at Park Brighton for approximately 12 years. It is family friendly and the management and staff are friendly and helpful. The management is working on improvements and it is looking good. It is worth the price to live here.

Complete disaster. The place is old (about 30+) years and we have been here for several months and have had nothing but PROBLEMS. Plumbing is below average with lots of leaks. Electrical system had some issues burning down a couple of our appliationces at home. Management does NOT like to be involved in doing ANY maintenance.
